Rho Ophiuchus Region


This region is a spectacular combination of dust and gas located in the contellation of Scorpius. The bright yellow-red star in the lower left is Antares. To its right is the globular cluster M4. The blue reflection nebula surrounding Rho Ophiuchus (in the group of three stars at the top) is IC4604.

Image was taken at the Nebraska Star Party (Merritt Reservior) in 2007.

Camera: Canon 350D (Hutech Type I modified)
Mount: CG-5
Exposures: 12 @ 90 sec.
Processing: The images were focused, converted, calibrated, aligned, and combined in ImagesPlus. The final image was adjusted in Photoshop.
