The Constellation of Orion

 
Orion is a very prominent winter constellation. It contains the famous Great Nebula of Orion - a stellar nursery and one of the most photographed deep-sky objects. The ark of red nebulosity to the left is know as Barnard's Loop.

Camera: Modified Canon T2i; ISO 3200
Filter:  Astronomik 6nm Ha
Exposures: 30 @ 3 min. each for color and Ha
Dates: Feb. 11 & 18, 2011
Location: My observatory in southeastern Minnesota
Note: Images were aligned and combined in ImagesPlus. The color and Ha images were aligned in RegiStar and the composite was adjusted in Photoshop.
