M50 - Open Cluster in Monoceros

M50 was discovered by Charles Messier in 1772 although it may have acutally been discovered earlier (in 1711) by G. D. Cassini. It lies about 3000 light years away in the constellation of Monoceros.
Telescope: Tele Vue Genesis
Camera: Modified Canon 550D; ISO 800
Mount:  Orion Sirius EQM
Guiding: STV on Lumicon 50mm finder scope; PHD guiding software
Exposures: 10 @ 3 minutes
Processing: Images were aligned and combined in ImagesPlus. The composite was adjusted (Levels, Curves) in Photoshop. Taken from my backyard observatory on 3/17/12. Temp: 60F
